Dressing to Impress - Fashion Club

Janet Rodriguez

Updated: Mar 13

Fashion Club was originally founded when President Jocelyn Rodriguez realized she had the opportunity to earn a scholarship to the Los Angeles FIDM School of Fashion, which the club is currently in partnership with. She decided to start the club and give other students the same opportunity that she was given. Club members have a chance to win a scholarship at the FIDM School of Fashion.

The PHS Fashion Club gives students a glimpse into the world and history of fashion. The club discusses fashion trends, and elements of fashion such as textures of fabric, colors, patterns, and silhouettes. Not only is fashion a riveting subject matter with multiple layers to it, but it is also of importance to us. According to President Jocelyn Rodriguez, “Fashion is a profound topic to many in our society, and it evolves over time. We should really understand it, especially for those who want to pursue a career in the fashion industry.” The club's main objective is to create a community of individuals who have a common interest in fashion, design, and self-expression. This club particularly allows those interested to expand their passions for it.

Last year, the fashion club organized a successful fashion show which was a very exciting event for them. Staff at FIDM came to watch as models wore prom dresses that once belonged to students here at PHS. This year, they plan to organize another fashion show in March and hope to get new models to showcase even more prom dresses. They also hope to get more members so that a field trip to the FIDM School of Fashion can be scheduled.

Want to Join Fashion Club?

Are you interested in fashion, design, and self-expression? If so, the Patriot High School FIDM Fashion Club is a place for you. The Fashion club meets every Monday at lunch in D249, Ms. McIntosh’s room, who is the club advisor this year. The club offers insight into all things fashion, discusses its significance, and welcomes anybody.

So, if you or someone you know is interested in fashion, make sure to stop by D249 at lunch every Monday so that you can have the chance to learn and expand your knowledge on it. The club is in need of more members, so joining would be very much appreciated.
