Damien Topete, (Daymen) an 11th grader at PHS, was nominated by Ms. Sanzberro, his AP Art teacher, as an outstanding art student for this edition of The SHIELD. Damien has been drawing since he can remember. While this is currently a hobby for him, he does think of maybe putting his skills to the test in the tattoo industry. He is also considering drawing pieces to exhibit at art exhibitions or museums. He credits his improvement in art to Ms. Sanzberro and Ms. Fridlund, who both have guided him and helped him develop his skills.
Damien's advice for budding artists, “If you’re afraid to show or post your art, you can begin by using a nickname or just your initials and get comfortable that way. Criticism will always be there but you have to begin to build confidence step by step."
